Darwin May Ball 2005

On the 24th of June, Bec, Cathy and I went to the Darwin May Ball. May balls, traditionally happen in June at Cambridge, not May. It coincides with the end of the academic year which finished during May in the past, but now finishes in June. You can read about it more here. We had a great night, meeting Becky before had for a few drinks.

Cathy came up from London on the train and managed to get ready in about 15 minutes. I was amazed, record timing.

The theme for the night was Moulin Rouge. The can can girls showing some dancing steps.


Guess what this is? You put your mouth where the tip of the arrow is and someone pours midori or some other alcoholic drink from the feathered end. It runs through the ice sculpture and gets cooled on the way down.










I can't remember this Magician Dude's name but he was awesome. I have always wondered how the guys do the card tricks right in front of your eyes, but we were amazed, very dexterous.

If you every get the chance to get a magician do tricks close, you will be amazed.





There was sumo wrestling in padded suits, a bungee cord running track, a donut making stall, a crepe stall, a stage with various acts and plenty more.

I have to say the vegetarian food was not served until 2am in the morning and that was crap. The only thing I could find was rice at the curry stall. I was so hungry I just asked the guy serving for a bowl of rice. Funny because he didn't understand what I wanted.
Yes we also had a Gambling table, you recieved 5 chips to bet with.
